Direct primary care (DPC) is a healthcare model that aims to provide comprehensive and personalized primary care services to patients. In this model, patients pay a monthly or annual fee directly to their primary care provider, bypassing the traditional fee-for-service system and insurance companies.

Here are some key features and benefits of Direct Primary Care at Daisy Family Health Care:

1. Relationship-based care: Direct primary care emphasizes a strong patient-provider relationship. Providers have more time to spend with each patient, allowing for thorough examinations, attentive listening, and personalized treatment plans.

2. Affordable and transparent pricing: DPC practices typically charge a flat monthly or annual fee, which covers a wide range of primary care services. This fee structure eliminates the need for copayments or additional charges for office visits, routine check-ups, preventive screenings, and basic laboratory tests. Pricing is transparent, and patients know exactly what they are paying for.

3. Accessible and convenient care: DPC providers often offer extended office hours, same-day or next-day appointments, and even virtual consultations. Patients have easier access to their providers, reducing wait times and ensuring timely care. Some DPC practices also provide patients with direct contact with their providers through phone calls, email, or secure messaging platforms.

4. Comprehensive primary care services: Direct primary care providers offer a wide range of primary care services, including preventive care, routine check-ups, management of chronic conditions, acute illness care, minor procedures, vaccinations, and some basic laboratory tests. However, specialized services like surgeries or complex diagnostic tests are typically not covered and may require additional insurance coverage.

5. No insurance involvement: DPC operates outside the traditional insurance system. Patients do not need to rely on insurance for routine primary care services covered by their membership fee. This model can be particularly beneficial for individuals without insurance or those with high-deductible plans who want to prioritize access to primary care.

6. Focus on preventive care: Direct primary care places a strong emphasis on preventive care and wellness. Providers can spend more time educating and counseling patients on lifestyle modifications, disease prevention, and overall health promotion.

It's important to note that direct primary care is not a substitute for health insurance or a health share. While DPC can provide comprehensive primary care services, it does not cover hospitalizations, or surgeries. Patients may still need insurance coverage or other means to finance these services if they are required. We recommend a health share to our members.

Direct primary care has gained popularity as an alternative model that improves access, affordability, and the patient-provider relationship in primary care.

If you do not have insurance, or you have a high deductible ($1000 or more), our membership would be perfect for you. You pay one affordable monthly cost and get unlimited primary care visits throughout the year. Direct Primary Care at Daisy Family Health Care works well with high deductible plans because we can take care of your primary care needs...and your insurance or health share can cover you for catastrophic events like hospitalization or surgeries.
